Building Ways is a collaborative research group that promotes sustainable building culture through publications, exhibitions, live interventions and educational projects.

In 2022, Mooradian Studio was awarded a grant by the Foundation for Future London for Hackney House, a series of educational workshops about the circular economy with sixth form students at the Mossbourne Community Academy – and that’s how Building Ways was born. Building Ways has since partnered with the London School of Architecture to develop Hackney House into the UK’s first ever dedicated A-Level EPQ in architecture.

Other projects include Hackney Village, a project funded by Hackney Council which maps the sustainable building culture in Hackney Central and compiles this information into an online publicly accessibly database. The interactive Building Culture Map can be found in the project section on our website.

This year Building Ways will launch a summer school in the village of Oshakan in Armenia. The summer school will open to international students and Armenian students and will promote the imaginative reuse of heritage buildings and sustainable building methods.

Building Ways is a research project that aims to engage with the wider public, rather than focusing on solely architectural audiences. The aim of Building Ways is to create a more resilient society by creating more conscious citizens.
